Rachid Halihal and Eva Cernik often present 1-2 hour programs
designed for children, high school, or university level students
introducing them to Middle-Eastern and North African music, dance,
and culture. These programs have been presented at private and
public schools throughout the Denver/Boulder/Colorado Springs area.
Eva and Rachid lecture, demonstrate ethnic instruments and costuming,
perform for and fully engage the students with participation on hand
drums and in dance.
Rachid teaches (in Colorado and New York City) private and semi
private music lessons on oud, violin, rhythm instruments and voice.

MOROCCAN RHYTHMS taught by RACHID HALIHAL
for percussionists, dancers, singers, and all musicians.
Rhythms will be taught on dumbek, bindir, frame drums, riq,
tambourines, or any sort of hand drums.
The rhythms of Morocco sound simple at first, but are imbued with
variously accented layers.
Rachid sings and plays melody as well during his workshops, so that
the percussionist learns where the rhythm fits into the melody.
Rachid is Moroccan himself, and is able to impart on his students
the feeling that is necessary to play these ethnic rhythms in the
right groove.
